Emergency Planning
Start with enough drinking water to get through a short disruption, then gradually build from there. In an apartment, the challenge isn't just how much water to store — it's where to put it and how to rotate it.
A few flashlights, charged power banks, batteries and a plan for cooking can make an ordinary power outage much easier to deal with. You don't need a generator to start preparing.
Think through what you would actually do during a fire, earthquake, extended outage or evacuation. That includes sheltering in place, leaving your apartment, transportation and eventually putting together a practical go-bag.
